The Alliance annual banquet was on December 21st, 2017 and as usual the Board of Directors was installed for the following year. We were lucky enough to have Rusty Cates, Alliance member and 2017 JAD Director of Outreach, on hand for an engaging presentation. Like all of the parts of an apple in our district's namesake, your Board will be working together to operate in service to the vision of the Chapter (core, seeds, flesh, fruit, skin, stem, and all!).

2017 saw some amazing initiatives by members, in many cases behind the scenes.
The Dale Jurgens Award was established to honor the memory of Dale Jurgens and
acknowledges the unceasing contributions of The Alliance members who demonstrate his spirit of
silent, behind-the-scenes service.
2017 had two winners from multiple nominations: Jon Geyer and George Denino. Many thanks to you both for all ofyour behind-the-scenes service keeping this organization alive!

GivingAssistant is the AmazonSmile of the rest of the internet, and you can designate a portion of automatic coupons for places like BestBuy, Target, and more to split between your own account and a donation towards The Alliance!
The 2017 Johnny Appleseed District Competition and Convention took place this past weekend in Cranberry, PA. Eight choruses crossed the stage on Saturday, October 21st. The Top 3 Choruses were, in order: Southern Gateway, The Alliance, and Men of Independence! In a contest where the total points possible was 1200, The Alliance was just 8 points out of 1st place!
On September 24th, The Alliance had an amazing opportunity to impact the community, and 10 members of The Alliance delivered smiles to participants and volunteers for the Walk to End Alzheimer's Opening Ceremony. Each member represented the organization gracefully, even with a limited turnout of performers. It was a hot day, but no matter— Mark Morris held down the Bass Section for the performance.

What are you doing this Labor Day? This weekend, in Sunny Orlando, Florida, hundreds of barbershoppers will descend upon the Airport Marriott for a weekend of tags, amazing quartet performances, and relaxation.
Our esteemed director, David Calland, is the baritone in one of these quartets that will be performing. If you're headed there, look for Boardwalk and cheer extra loud. A handful of Alliance members are also headed down to enjoy the weekend, so we'll be well-represented. If you'll be in attendance, take pictures and tweet at us (@AllianceChorus) to share the event from afar.

On August 10th, The Alliance Chorus and chapter quartet The Con Men performed for an awesome audience at the Guy C. Myers Band Shell in Ashland, Ohio. A result of one of the organization's community outreach efforts, the evening was filled with beautiful weather and music. We're looking forward to more opportunities to get involved with our communities! Thanks for having us out again!
